Trap window cellular shade

Question

Sponsored Links

I have a number of trap windows, but mainly two sizes. One is 60"W x 96"H on long side and 60"H on short side.

Another is 66"W x 60"H on long side and 38"H on short side. I spoke with a Hunter Douglas rep who told me that I would have to install a bar across the window at the top of the short side and that the shades would only open to that bar. The area above the bar would be fixed.

This is not what I had planned since I would now have bars across my windows at various places and also portions of the windows would always be covered.

Your site shows a product that allows the shade to be fully opened. Is this also a Hunter Douglas product? Or is this only available through your company.

Thanks,

Colleen

Answer

The product on our site is not a Hunter Douglas product. However the fabric used with it is from Hunter Douglas.

So you would get the high quality Hunter Douglas fabric but with much more function.

Angled Window

angled window

Question

We purchased a mid century modern home that has these angled windows that face East. If they were facing a different direction then we would leave them free of window treatments but throughout the year the sun shines right in the windows which makes it uncomfortable to be in the open living space. We have considered roller shades but are not 100% sure that it is the best decision.

There are pockets of homes in the Phoenix area that all have the same angled windows.

Please let me know what you recommend for our mid-century modern home. See attached photo. (by the way the wall with the square openings we ripped down).

Answer

It is difficult to tell from the photo if the angle is on top or bottom or both. However the right place to start looking for a solution is at our trapezoid window treatment page. Where you will find a variety of options for angled windows.

If the angle is only on the top you would do best with our trapezoid window shade that opens to the top. When open you will have a full view but when closed you will have privacy, sun protection, plus insulation. It is available in light filtering or room darkening cellular shade fabric and can be made in many large size.
