sliding door next to a window
QuestionI have a sliding door next to a window. I don't really need window coverings as the apt is on the 27th floor, but I am looking to hang some fabric to soften the look of bare windows. Any window treatment would be for decorative purposes only.
This is my 23-year old daughter's apt, so I was looking for a casual look. I thought of hanging red sheer curtains in some form, I can think of the following options, but any advice would be greatly appreciated!
(1) install a 144" rod across both (window and sliding door) - hang 3 panels - one at the end of the window, other at the end of the sliding door, and one in the middle of the two.
(2) install a 144" rod across both (window and sliding door) - hang 2 panels - one at the end of the window, other at the end of the sliding door, and then install a valance to cover the rod for the entire 144" stretch
(3) have 2 swags - one for the sliding door, other for the window, with hanging panels on each end - should I install a curtain rod or just something to hold the swags and the hanging panels
AnswerFor option (3) you can hang them like a drapery swag. The swag hangs from rings attached to the two points at the edge. The panels and the swag are hung onto the pole. This is called a
drapery or necklace swag.
