Plantation Shutters
Plantation shutters where originally used in mansions on southern plantations. The larger windows allowed for the use of wider louvers. To add to the majestic look they were almost always painted white.
Nowadays, though they are still made of
wood
, they are also made in many different materials like
vinyl
or
faux wood
; which makes them practical in the kitchen and the bathroom. They have elliptical-shaped louvers which come in many different sizes usually ranging from 2 1/2" to 4 1/2".
Plantation-shutters are now the shutters of choice; mainly because contemporary homes have larger rooms and more windows. But you don't need a plantation to own them, they are now available in all fine window treatment stores.
