I would like an shutter - fixed in place is OK - for an interior oval window. However, I would like to easily be able to let light in or darken the room, as I choose.

Answer

Sounds like you would enjoy our mock sunburst shutters. It can be fit onto an oval window.

It has sunburst shaped openings that can be exposed and blocked as needed by simply moving a small lever. Like this you can let in the light and sun when you want yet block it when you want.

It is made from pine wood stock which gives the look and feel of hardwood, making you feel like you have real shutters but with the functionality.

Another option for oval windows is the sunburst kit, which adds a pretty decoration while diffusing the sunlight.

octagon window covering

by Vicki E.
(So. Indiana)

Question

I have an octagon window in my bedroom next to my bed. My husband sleeps during the day and we are trying to find a economical covering for this window. This window is your average octagon window. My bedroom is painted a dark brown and I need something to block out the light.

Thanks,
Vicki E.

Answer

For an economical window covering take a look at these solutions:

Sunburst

Use this sunburst kit to make a lovely fabric window covering for your octagon window.

You can choose a fabric for it depending on your needs.

The most ideal fabric used for this solution is sheer fabric. It looks airy and pretty, however it will usually just reduce the glare and provide some daytime privacy.

If you need more privacy or light control you would need to use a more light blocking or blackout fabric. (Make sure it is not too stiff or heavy since that would be a problem when making the sunburst which needs a light and pliable fabric.)

Window Film

Window film is an easy and economical way of covering odd shaped windows.

For daytime privacy choose black window film.

Or visit this site with beautiful decorative window film featuring stained glass or etched glass designs.

by Mike
(Tampa, FL)

Question: My 24" round window is in a walk-in closet. I need to be able to see out so it can't be opaque, but I would like it to block direct sunlight from hitting the clothes.

What do you suggest?

Answer: How about window film? It blocks the sunlight and about 99% of the UV rays but you can still look out of the window.

Need curtain for this door's window

Need curtain for this door's window

Question

I have a round window in our front door that I would like to cover with a fabric that lets light through, but gives us some privacy. The diameter of the window is 32-1/4", and I would like the rod (or whatever holds the round curtain) to be round.

Answer

You can use our sunburst window treatment kit to create a fabric sunburst for your round window. It comes with a rod that is flexible and can be bent into many shapes including round.

However by looking at your photo I cannot be sure whether your window has the 3/4" ledge that is needed to mount the the fabric sunburst inside the frame. If it doesn't you will need to do an outside mount.

Another ideas for getting some privacy while letting light shine through is window film. Take a look at:
