Operable Shade for Right Triangle Window

Question

I have 2 large right triangle windows back to back above a bank of 4 large window panels. Forms one large upper triangle. Duette shades are on lower windows.

Would like to do Duette shades on triangles. Is it possible or should I just try to use trapezoid shades and forget about little triangles left on each side.

Afraid that changing the shape of window (to trapezoid) will be too costly.

Thank you.

P.S. I would like the shades to be movable of course.

Answer

You do not need to change the shape of the window at all. The special shade for trapezoid window can also be made for the triangle window.

What would work best for you is to make full triangle window shades for your triangle windows and they can work just the same as the trapezoid windows. They will fully open and close as needed.

For a price quote and more information on how these trapezoid/triangle shades work fill out the trapezoid shade form and we will send you more information.

Triangular windows

by Jim
(Seattle)

Question
I have two triangular windows that are flat on the bottom, about 7' wide, vertical on one side, about 3.5' tall, and angled to join those two sides.

I need black-out blinds that are white on the inside. The windows are about ten feet high at their base, so I might have to motorize these to get them to open and close.

Please let me know if this is something you'd be interested in building, and if so, what a ball park price would be. I can give you exact dimensions if it looks like something we can do.
Thanks, Jim

Answer

Hi Jim

We have a special system for cellular shades for triangle windows that can be opened and closed. If you want them in blackout we can use the Hunter Douglas Architella blackout fabric which comes in many colors and is available in many colors including white.

You can find more details about these shades on our trapezoid window treatment page. The system for the triangle windows works the same as the trapezoid windows.

Big Triangular Windows

(Wisconsin)

Question

Hi,

I have these 2 large triangular windows in my living area that face west. I need something to cover them to keep the sun and heat out, but I want to be able to open also.

ON your website it says that you can get operational ones for triangles. I can't seem to find anyone that says you can operate them. They all say they have to be fixed. The windows are split into 3 by a wood panels. So the whole thing is a triangle, but if you split it, the two biggest panels are trapezoids and the last is a triangle.

I would like operational cellular shades if possible either one big one or 3 that are operational.

HELP!! Is this possible or if not what can I do?

Thanks,

Shawn

Answer

Hi Shawn

The operable trapezoid window treatments work for both right triangles and trapezoids.

If the large triangle with the three windows have a single frame that all three windows are in it, you can do one large triangle window treatment.

But if they do not have one common frame you can do it in three separate shades; two trapezoids and one triangle and all of them will operate the same way.

For more information about these shades see our operable trapezoid window treatment page.
