Trapezoid windows - can I use roller shades instead of honeycomb blinds?

Question

Sponsored Links

Hello -

Thank you for sending me more specific information about the trapezoid window treatments.

As you can see, my windows are almost exactly the same shape as the ones in the sample image of the blinds that fold up into the 3" headrail (the image of blinds both open and closed).

I have 2 sets of what is pictured above, one on either side of my chimney. Can I use a light filtering roller shade with that headrail arrangement instead of the honeycomb blind?

If yes, can you give me a ballpark estimate of the cost of this? Also, please include the cost of adding a motorized mechanism.

My goals are to have a window treatment that doesn't collect as much dust as a honeycomb blind, UV protection of my furniture and flooring, keeping intense morning sun out in summer to keep house cooler, and keeping heat in during the winter.

The width of the border between the windows side by side is 4.75", and 8.25" between top and bottom windows.

Thanks for your assistance!

Answer

This headrail is made to work with honeycomb shades. Unlike roller shades which rolls onto a roll, honeycomb shades compress into a very small space. This makes it workable for trapezoid windows.

The honeycomb shade will continue to compress even if the headrail is on an angle. The roller shades on the other hand can only roll horizontally but not on an angle.

So the answer to your question is no, you cannot use roller shade fabric for that.

Angle top wood blinds

Question Are there any other brands of horizontal wood blinds that approximate the Hunter Douglas Extended Angle with moveable slats feature? They seem not to sell online anymore.

Answer As far as I am aware, Hunter Douglas is the only one with extended angle moveable slats feature. They do not allow selling online anymore, though I doubt that this particular product was ever sold online via a shopping cart.

Are you looking to purchase extended angle wood blinds? They are sold at our store:
