Large Eyebrow Arch Window

Question

The sun can be unbearable during the afternoon. We would like to have window coverings that we can open and close. We have had a few companies look at the window and the only options we have need given are shutters which are way to expensive or 2 in blinds that are stationary.

Answer

Another neat option available is cellular shades that open from top down. It opens by compressing down towards the window sill. This way you can open it completely and your view will not be blocked at all. And of course it closes completely when raised.

Or you can use our mock sunburst shutters. It has sunburst style openings that can be easily opened and closed.

Another option is to use a curved curtain rod for curtains. It is a rod that bends to shape of the window.

Arch Cellular Shades
by: The Window Treatment Expert

We can sell you the shades but you will have to install it yourself because we are located in NYC.

Please send me the measurements of your window and a color choice from Hunter Douglas fabrics and I will give you a price quote.

Where to buy

Where would I get the cellular shade? We have numerous window companies come out and tell us we can not do them, not sure why though. We live in the chicagoland area. Any ideas?

Cellular Eyebrow Arch Availability

Question

I have an eyebrow arch window that is 92 inches wide and 22" high to the center of the arch. The legs on both sides are 9 3/4.

I would like to use a top down cellular blind to cover this. I have read that Hunter Douglas makes them but everyone I contact seems to indicate that it is only for the "perfect arch" with height that is half of the width.

Your web site has a photo of a shade like this. Can you tell me who actually produces such shades?

Answer

Yes, we sell cellular shades in any shape or size. If you are interested in purchasing them for your eyebrow arch window, please contact us through our contact form on our eyebrow arch window page here. You will find the contact form on the bottom of the page.

Large Eyebrow Window

Question

I have two large approximately 17" x 67" each (measuring the glass not the frame) front eyebrow windows facing east.

One of the windows is in a bedroom and one of the windows is in the garage.

I have been told not to use wood due to the garage getting so hot and cold depending on the season. I have also been told not to use fabric because the garage window treatment would get dirty quickly or cellulars because flies & such would get in the cells.

As you can see, the garage window is the main problem.

The size of the windows is the other problem. I want something that blocks the light since the windows face east and because of the big street light in my front yard. I don't care if they ever open!

I thought white vinyl blinds or vinyl shutters would work great but I can't find any. I have white wood blinds throughout the house and white vinyl blinds in the garage. I need a solution that will work and where to find purchase it!

Answer

I think that I might have the just right solution for you. Take a look at our arch window blinds I think it fits all your criteria.

  • It's not wood or fabric or cellular; it a wood composite which is mostly plastic.

  • The white wood composite will match to your both white vinyl and white wood blinds in your house.

  • The size passes, too, since it comes in up to 72" wide and yours are only 67".

  • It will block the light when closed and it can be opened.

Or you can also try these mock sunburst shutters, made from fiberboard. They also match to wood blinds and will fit your window.

You can choose from operable and closed back; both will block the light from coming in.

Good Luck on your project!

eyebrow arch

by Trish Koch
(Leesburg,fl)

Question: We have an eyebrow arch above another window that I have a cornice and vertical blinds. The window is 72 and 1/2 inches wide with 14 and 3/4 inches legs. It is 22and 3/4 inches from the center of the arch to the bottom. The window below is 72 and 1/2 inches wide and 62 inches high.

What we would like to do is cover the eyebrow arch with something that would block some sun.

Answer: If you want to block the sun completely you should use mock shutters. They can be made to match your cornice and can be opened to bring in sunlight and closed to completely block it.

Other ideas are cellular shades and fabric sunburst, you can see more information on our eyebrow window treatment page.
