Can you use curtains on a window with 2" blinds?

Answer

Yes but you will need to use curtain rods that extend in front of the curtain so that the curtains and the blinds don't interfer with each other.

Question

We are also trying to come up with an idea to cover 3 windows in a row measuring 107" across. Please help.

Answer

You can either use three separate shades or blinds or use a window covering that go in a vertical direction. The advantage of a vertical window treatment is that you can use just one covering for all three windows.

Here are some ideas for you:
  • Curtains

  • Luminette

  • Vertical Blinds

Four 8-foot tall windows on one wall with 6" between each window. Four rods or one?

by Suzanne
(Dentom, tx)

Question

I have four, 8 foot tall windows on one wall. There are six inches between each window. They span the width of the room and are currently covered with 2" wooden blinds.

I would like to add a treatment to dress up the room and I like the idea of grommet style curtains.

Can I do blinds and curtains, both?

Do I use four rods, one for each window? Or one long one to span all four windows?

Answer

You can definitely use curtains with your blinds. The curtains should be hung in front of the blinds using rods that protrude enough so that easy operation for both the blinds and curtains is allowed. If the blinds are mounted inside the windows it will make things simpler.

Should you use one rod or four?

This is a personal preference. Do you want to have the look of four curtains or of just one wide one? The six inch space will allow you enough space to install the rod hardware, but if you prefer one curtain or even two you can choose to do so. Just use the look that you envisioned for your windows.

Floor to Ceiling Windows Expanding on Two Walls

by Joanne Johnson
(Tarzana California)

Question

Each wall has floor to ceiling shutters. Actually the total is 6 pairs of shutters. The ceiling is high beam. The color is Swiss coffee. In the past prior to this treatment I had very formal swag valances and drapery which I miss. What can I do to soften the look and make it more dressy? Perhaps a valance or even drapes would that be proper?

Answer

The beauty of shutters is that it can be combined with fabric. Adding a valance or even drapery will make your room even more special.

Before adding anything you should make sure that the function of the shutters will not be hampered by the drapery.

If you are looking to purchase a valance check out our overlapping swag valance that can be easily customized to your taste.
