Arched Window Drapes
(Naperville, IL, US)
I am absolutely stumped!
We needed to replace the window in the photo. It is now a Pella with the same dimensions, 100"x90", with an arch. This photo was taken during the inspection, before we purchased the home. The decor is the former owners, not ours.
The window treatments you see in the photo were old and in bad shape, so we discarded them.
I am not concerned with morning sun coming in through the arch, and don't feel the need to have anything there. We need some sort of curtain for privacy.
Because the window is so wide, we would need to install a center bracket for support, but my husband is concerned about screwing into the wood of the window. He is also of the opinion that the new window is too shallow to install shades or blinds with an inside mount.
It seems to me that my only option is to go over the entire thing, arch and all... but I think the window is too wide and it won't look good.
Do you have any suggestions? Answer
You are concerned about screwing into the wood of your new windows, yet don't want to miss out on elegant window treatments.
Here's an idea that will liven up your room.
Place medallions above the arch at intervals. Then hook a curtain onto the medallions. When opened you can tie back the curtain to the side.
See photo below how pretty and airy the sheer curtains with medallions look. Putting such curtains above an arch will only add to its ambiance.
